Comet Goldfish are capable of thriving in conditions of extreme cold and are available in diverse colors especially orange, red as well as yellow with black spots. The tail fin is the main thing that differentiates it from other types of goldfish. The tail fin has two lobes that are positioned above each other. Comet goldfish are hardy and do well in garden ponds. They need large space because they are fast swimmers. They socialize well; thus should be kept with other fish.

The Oranda goldfish is a very beautiful variety known for the cap or hood-like skin growth surrounding the head as well as the sides of its surface. Its color variety and appearance has increased its popularity among the goldfish varieties. The Oranda is commonly found in red, black and red, white and black, white and red, tricolor, calico, bronze, silver, blue, black, white and chocolate.
