Bed frames are supposed to be an easy item to pick out. You've put in so much time and energy into selecting the right mattress, that you never really considered the bed frame for it. Honestly, it was probably not all that important to you to begin with. For your mattress, you have to lay on a lot of them, turn on them, then to do the same thing with another potential mattress in order to find the most comfortable one for you. You don't necessarily have to that with the other bed parts like the box spring or bed frame. That's why these other bed parts are rarely in your mind before you purchased your mattress.

But a queen bed frame isn't so easy to pick out. You just can't go into the store and lay on multiple bed frames to determine which is most comfortable. Yet, the support the frame gives the mattress really affects the comfort level of your bed. The box spring typically lies on top of the bed frame. The frame itself is usually a rectangular shape that is a bit smaller than the box spring. This set up gives the mattress the all around support it needs without having cross section support.

There are other bed frames that include slats that go across the underside of the mattress to make the bed a little firmer. People with back problems tend to go with the bed frame with slats because it provides a strong platform for the mattress. Basically, this means that your bed is firmer, which results in less sagging in the middle of the mattress.

The crazy thing is that you can end up spending just as much money on your bed frame as your mattress and box spring. However, you don't necessarily have to go down this expensive route. Really, what's the difference between a high end queen bed frame and the less expensive version? It's mostly just looks, branding, and marketing that drives the larger price differences. Granted, a more expensive bed frame may be a bit stronger, but not so strong that it justifies the premium price.

Some people are very particular about the way the frame looks. While it's not likely to ever be seen during the winter months when you've piled some heavier and longer blankets on the bed. It may be seen during the summer months if you don't skirt the lower part of the mattress and the bed frame.

With a simple skirting no one will ever have to see the queen bed frame. In fact, they won't be looking under the bed, either. The skirting covers the box spring, the frame, and the space in between the frame and the floor. It allows for a certain amount of privacy when it comes to your bed. A skirt also means that you can go with the metal bed frame that is less expensive but doesn't qualify as upscale decor by any means.

Around the world and throughout the lengthy history of the bed, the frame size can vary by several inches. Many frames can adjust a few inches lengthwise and width wise to make sure they can fit beds around the globe.

Once considered the utmost in luxury accommodations, the bed is now considered to be a necessity and has not been reserved for royalty or the wealthy for many generations now. The queen bed frame can end up being the absolute most comfortable and popular size we have in the United States.
