Your daughter has been practicing for months to showcase her talent, and the dance recital is finally here. As exciting as this time is, it can also be a stressful one for you and your daughter. Here are some easy ways to help things run a little smoother on the big day.

Plan ahead. Start planning for the performance ahead of time, at least by a week. Make a list of everything you may need, such as costumes, special dance shoes, tights or other accessories.

Get plenty of rest. Make certain she gets enough sleep. Dance recitals are tiring enough, so getting extra sleep the week of the recital will go a long way.

Make certain she has plenty of energy. Recitals can take up a lot of time, so pack plenty of water or Gatorade for her to drink to keep her energy high. Have her favorite snacks packed as well, and make certain to bring some snacks for yourself too.

Arrive to the recital on time. Make arrangements so you can get to the performance early. You will need time to set up in the dressing room. Your child will thank you later for the extra time to calm her nerves.

Label your costumes and accessories. There are a lot of other dance students wearing the same costumes and dance shoes, and the odds are many of them may wear the same size as your daughter. Keep track of your items by properly labeling them.

Bring something to entertain during the long stretches. Recitals can be very exhausting for younger dancers. Packing a few quiet games to help pass the time, such as a deck of cards, can help during the more boring parts of the recital.

Breathe. Keep in mind that recitals normally only happen once during the year. It's not always easy watching your child perform, but try to relax and enjoy watching your young dancer up on the stage.
