Most people give diaper bags or a personalized gift at a baby shower because it is easy and simple. Can you really go wrong with a diaper bag? Do first time mom to be's really care what they get as long as they are shown love and support.
Moms that are given a baby shower are ecstatic, we are being shown love and support for the most wonderful yet scary thing that is getting ready to happen to us. Forget all the presents just show me I am not alone is what most moms say.
When someone takes the time to get you a personalized blanket with baby's name on it, it shows you that they paid attention to details. When you receive a personalized gift you know that you can pass the gift down to your child as he or she grows up. I know my children still carry around blankets that were given to them with their name on them. I think a personalized gift is more of a personal gift than a more traditional gift such as clothes.
Diaper bags make a wonderful gift you can put diapers in them, you can put toys in them or you can even put clothes in them. I don't know of many moms that only have one diaper bag. Once you have a baby it becomes your new purse for many years to come. It is so much easier to carry one diaper bag than several bags all at once.
New moms think of a baby shower as a way to save money. There is so many things that we would like to splurge on but do not always have the money for. When you have a baby shower you see how much you are loved and cared about. Multiple people come together and get the big gifts that sometimes without the help you may not have the money to buy.
I really think that it don't make a difference rather you give a diaper bag or a personalized gift, it's the thought that counts. When our family and friends come together and show us love and support that is all that matters. Every present that we receive is more money we can spend on the baby later on. So it is up to you which you think is more efficient.
