The following tips can help you stop binge eating completely if you follow them properly.

1. An easy process to end binge eating is to eat smaller bites. Put in smaller morsels of food in the mouth. And chew each morsel of food for a long time.

When you put in large morsels in mouth, you will finish up food quickly and may would likely eat more. Moreover, you will not chew food properly when taking big morsels.

These problems can be avoided by taking in smaller morsels and chewing them nicely. This will slow down your eating and check overeating.

2. Whenever you feel a temptation to eat something, ask yourself whether you are actually starving? Ask yourself whether the desire for food is due to stress or any other depressing emotions you may be feeling presently?

If you are not really hungry and the craving is mainly due to stress or negative emotions, then try your best to refrain from food at such times. You may really have to be strict with yourself and not allow yourself to eat food for the purpose of obtaining comfort.

3. Think about the uncomfortable feelings when you over-fill your stomach. Remind yourself of the guilty feelings you feel after overeating. Too often we only think about the pleasant feelings food provides us.

However if we just for a minute dwell our minds on the uncomfortable feelings and guilt that almost always comes along with a bout of overeating or binge eating, then we will feel less tempted to indulge in the habit.

4. Have an alternate activity handy. Binge eaters need to keep their mind busy with something else. When they are idle they will have a tough time controlling their food cravings.

Try to find an activity which you like and which may take your mind away from food for a while. Different people may come up with different activities. Find one which you enjoy and whenever you want to binge eat, engage yourself in that activity instead. Soon enough, you should find it easier to avoid binge eating most of the times.

5. Healthy eating: When you can't completely stop your cravings, then atleast ensure that you are eating healthy foods which do not have lot of calories. This way you can prevent unwanted weight gain.

Fruits and vegetables are good substitutes to junk food. Since many people will find it difficult to completely quit binging all of a sudden, try to substitute your snacks with fruits and vegetables to minimize the harmful effects of binging.
