I don't know any man or woman alive that wouldn't want to build six pack abs. Six pack abs are probably the most sought after physical attribute- especially for men. There are deep psychological reasons that we want six pack abs- we want them and we like to look at them. People are simply attracted to a physique that looks like it's well kept. Well maintained.
We look up to the person who works hard to stay in shape. To be disciplined enough to get the hard to get body. Women like men with a great midsection for visual reasons, but these reasons are rooted deep in the DNA. A man with a Greek God- like body is more likely to protect the woman and provide for her. He also has a greater probability of having similar high quality off spring.
Now, before I go further, lets delve into what you need to get this highly prized six pack. After all, that's why you're reading this article.
There are 3 basic things you need to get in order to develop a great midsection that pulls people's attention.
The first thing you need to get down is your diet. Now, when I say diet, I don't mean you need to get rid of all those delicious foods, you simply need to eat them at specific times, or in lower quantities. (I know you don't want to hear that, but ya gotta do what ya gotta do). And hey, think about this. What's more compelling- having gorgeous men or women begging to be with you, or a measly box of donuts? If you chose the donuts, click away from this article now.
The second thing you need to do is get down a solid cardio program. And.. you need to do it consistently. Write that down on a yellow sticky and put it on the floor so when you wake up out of bed each morning it serves as a reminder of what you need to do. Consistency is KEY in cardio. This cardio exercise can be just about anything that gets your heart racing- running, biking, skiing, rowing. Whatever floats your boat. The more intensity the better. There's a concept called EPOC- Excess Post exercise Oxygen Consumption. Big word, simply means when you work hard, your body continues to work hard long after the exercise has stopped. This means a fired up metabolism, melting fat off those hard to get areas, and thus revealing that golden six pack abs.
But before you can see those golden six pack abs, you need to build the muscles of the abdominal region. This will take the third thing you need to do into account- strength training. Now, strength training is simply contracting the abdominals against resistance. You can do this through crunches, situps, leg raises, heavy squats (believe it or not), planks, etc.. There are of course effective and not so effective means of exercise for the abdominal region, but the best exercise is always the one you actually do.
